Credit cards are ever popular in a time with economic turmoil. We all recognise just how useful they can be when we really need to purchase something for our lives or in an emergency. If you don’t have a credit card you can use right now there is always an option of applying for a new card or doing some paying on the credit card to get it under the limit. Before choosing the credit card you will need to compare your different options. You have several types of credit cards on the market including air miles, loyalty cards, pre- paid credit cards, and those that afford you an instantaneous decision when it comes to the application.

Credit card applications used to be sent through the mail. The company would receive the application and pull up your information, and perhaps two to four weeks later you would learn if you can have the card. Today there is a better way to obtain a card using credit card applications. This new way comes on the advent of technology. With the internet being at everyone’s fingertips credit card companies now offer credit cards instant decision options. This means within 30 to 90 seconds you can learn if the credit card you have applied for will be awarded to you or not.

So how does this great option work? Depending on the site you have done your credit card comparison on you may find they have the application link right there on the comparison tables. You simply click on the icon and you are sent to an https:// link. The S offers a secure site in which you can feel comfortable entering your private information. The security is set in place to avoid hacking and other undesirable options from occurring.

After the information has been entered you will have a chance to review everything, submit, and enter a secure code. The secure code is usually a scrambled box of letters and numbers you must enter to ensure security. The browser will then show a screen ticking down the time. At the end of the time the credit card company will offer you their decision. Most often you will be awarded the card and sent to their log in page in order to start your online account immediately. The card will still take up to four weeks before it arrives in the mail.

There are several advantages to this process. First of all you will have access to the credit card faster than you would if you went through the mail process. For example, if you obtained the card for a balance transfer purpose you can go online and immediately set up that balance transfer. You also learn what limit and annual percentage rate you will have. You can always decline the credit card after you have been accepted if the requirements don’t meet your needs. For instance, if the credit card has a higher APR than you expected you can decline their offer.
